One of a group of insect hormones, composed of modified linear isoprenoid units, that promote larval development; produced by neuroendocrine structures known as corpora allato and hence also referred to as allatum hormone.

Hydrocarbure non saturé sécrété par les corps allates des Insectes. Chez les larves, sa présence au moment de la mue empêche la réalisation des caractères adultes. Chez les adultes, elle est nécessaire à la vitellogenèse. Elle agit également sur la pigmentation et l'activité cardiaque.

OBS

Une des deux principales hormones intervenant au cours du développement larvaire de l'insecte. On utilise ses analogues dans la lutte biologique contre les insectes.
