OBS

Whereas the English generally retains "lac" with a French name, other place-names tend more easily to a translation of the generic. Hence "River" instead of "rivière". This would follow the same logic of the area inhabitants that gives "Lac des Chênes" and "Des Chênes Rapids". While "lac" generally remains in French, other geographic names such as "rivière" or "rapides" tend to be translated.
