lactate: any salt of lactic acid. In biochemistry, the terms "lactate" and "lactic acid" are used interchangeably, even though "lactate" technically refers to the negatively charged ion.

OBS

C'est l'accumulation d'acide lactique dans les muscles qui rend l'athlète fatigué et incapable d'un rendement d'une intensité continue. Chez certains, cet acide passe vite et régulièrement dans le sang pour être éliminé. À l'aide de cet appareil, l'entraîneur cherche à mesurer si c'est le cas chez son nageur et jusqu'à quel point ce dernier peut pousser l'effort sans être gêné par un excès d'acide lactique.
