Tropopause qui, au lieu de former une structure d'un seul tenant, est caractérisée par la superposition de plusieurs feuillets de tropopause presque horizontaux.

CONT

En fait, la tropopause, par la forme de son profil thermique vertical, prend souvent l'aspect d'une tropopause multiple superposant des «feuillets» qui, en gros, se disposent en un escalier descendant en direction des régions polaires, où le passage de la troposphère à la stratosphère est du reste beaucoup plus progressif et donc imprécis.
