A lowest common denominator is actually the smallest number which both denominators divide into equally.

For larger denominators or when there are many fractions to be added, it is easiest to use the method of lowest common denominators (LCD). The denominators must be reduced to their prime numbers in order to find the smallest denominator common to the fractions ... Denominators of fractions being subtracted must be the same. The resulting difference is then the difference of the numerators of the fractions being subtracted. The general method of subtraction of fractions with common denominators is to subtract the numerators and place this difference over the common denominator.

The screen also serves as a monitor for the interface of some camera controls. Different types exist: TFT (Thin Film Transistor) and DSTN (Double Super Twisted Nemantic) are the most common. The TFT screen is brighter and has superior color and contrast to the DSTN. However, TFT consumes more electricity than DSTN.

A rival to LEDs in many applications, LCDs are particularly popular in the watch display market. The name of these devices describes their composition - LCDs have a liquid crystal material sandwiched between two glass plates separated by about 12 um. The glass plates are sealed around their perimeter. The image appears between two layers of conductive material, one etched on the surface of each glass plate. In operation, a voltage is applied between the two layers of conductive material which changes the molecular orientation of the liquid crystal material. The light passing through the display is thus scattered or reflected in nonequal manner where the voltage has been applied. LCDs emit no light, but can use either reflected or transmitted light to form the display. LCD's have the large advantage of consuming considerably less energy than LEDs.
