Une répartition des dépenses des congressistes a été faite en 1977 par l'UAI : en dehors du coût du transport jusqu'au lieu du congrès, les délégués dépenseraient 34% pour leur hébergement, 25% pour la restauration, 5% pour les transports locaux, 8% pour les distractions, 15% pour le shopping et 13% en divers.

Pour les 10 villes de congrès les plus importantes des Etats-Unis, la répartition des dépenses serait : hébergement et restauration 59%, achats 12%, transport local et location de voitures 10%, distractions et bar 12%, visites 2%.
