Le terme «enceinte» peut désigner soit l'ensemble, soit l'enceinte à l'exclusion de son contenu (contrairement à l'explication de l'AFNOR (NF-S30-103, 1973, p. 4] et «coffret» désigne l'enceinte exclusivement.

The United States of America Standards Institute standardizes "speaker" and "loudspeaker" in the first sense.
