The Constitution Act, 1867, a pact between representatives of Lower Canada (Quebec), Upper Canada (Ontario), New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, is passed.

OBS

Problems of this kind were partly solved in 1791 by dividing the old province of Quebec into two parts, Lower Canada and Upper Canada.
