OBS

La stratosphère s'étend sur une dizaine de kilomètres au-dessus de la tropopause. Dans la terminologie des couches atmosphériques de Goody (1950), la basse stratosphère correspondait exactement à la stratosphère (stratosphere, en anglais) de la classification subséquente de Chapman (1954); d'où parfois la synonymie entre ces deux termes.
