Haploids, of all kinds, are occasionally produced in all plants, normally by female parthenogenesis whereby an unfertilized egg cell develops; much more rarely, male parthenogenesis, wherein the male gamete alone replaces the zygote, produces a haploid plant derived from the paternal parent.
