In October 2005, taking stock of 10 years of collaboration on Francophone Affairs, delegates adopted a new name: “Ministerial Conference on the Canadian Francophonie.” This wording better reflects the strength and vitality of all francophone and Acadian communities in Canada.

The main objectives are to: handle issues relating to francophone affairs; make certain commitments regarding francophone affairs; guide intergovernmental cooperation activities; individually and collectively act as a catalyst for the advancement of francophone affairs.
