Induction chemotherapy permits treatment of tumor cells disseminated throughout the body -- systemic micrometastases -- as early as possible. In some cases, it may reduce or even eliminate the need for organ-removing surgery.

Cette procédure permet au cancérologue de mesurer l'efficacité des produits chimiothérapeutiques en observant la vitesse à laquelle se réduit la tumeur initiale.
