Mobile genetic elements (MGE) are a type of DNA that can move around within the genome. They include: Transposons, Retrotransposons, DNA transposons, Insertion sequences, Plasmids, Bacteriophage elements, like Mu which integrates randomly into the genome, Group II introns.
