Pour arriver à supprimer, du moins momentanément, l'angle de mire des canons et obusiers, il suffirait de percer sur le corps de la pièce un trou de 9 millimètres de diamètre et de tarauder et de fraiser ce trou pour recevoir un bouton de mire en bronze, terminé par un petit mamelon en acier formant guidon.

Les obusiers lisses n'ont pas de hausses latérales. Outre le cran de mire de la bouche, il y en a un second sur la plate-bande de culasse.
