The Natural Lands and Special Places Strategy, initiated by the Manitoba Round Table on Environment and Economy, is the cornerstone of the government's policy in fulfilling its commitment to the Endangered Spaces Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to establish by the year 2000, a network of protected areas representative of each of the natural regions of Canada, the provinces and the territories, free from logging, mining and hydroelectric development and other activities that could significantly affect natural habitat.
