The nocebo effect describes a phenomenon whereby people start to develop health effects because they believe they should; that is, they have preconceptions about what will cause health effects and develop symptoms based on what they believe to be true. This is in contrast to the well-known placebo effect whereby people can show relief from an ailment because they believe they are part of a treatment that is supposed to improve their health. 2, record 1, English, - nocebo%20effect

3, record 1, French, - effet%20noc%C3%A9bo
