Herbivory is carried out by viruses, bacteria, protozoans and many filter feeders: rotifers, many molluscs, many crustaceans; non-filter feeders: nematodes, most insects, symphylids, springtails, waterbears, kinorhynchs, starfish, urchins, many fishes, amphibians (larval stage), some reptiles, many birds and mammals, and technically, by plant parasites on plants as noted above.
