generic format for coding of digital data in which the state is constant throughout the bit period

A communication code in which a binary one is represented by one bit time at the 1 level and a binary 0 is represented by one bit time at the 0 level. This permits storing about twice as much data as can be stored with a return-to-zero code.

There are three forms: NRZ-Level, NRZ-Mark (NRZ-I) and NRZ-Space.
