This method involves microfilming the page to be processed. The microfilm is then treated as an opaque screen containing a set of transparent letters and signs. A coherent beam of light (a laser beam) is then passed through the screen, on which the outline of the writing remains transparent.

La méthode consiste à microfilmer la page à étudier. Le microfilm est considéré comme un écran opaque dans lequel se trouve un ensemble de caractères et de signes transparents. Ensuite, on fait passer un faisceau de lumière cohérente (rayon laser) à travers l'écran, où le tracé de l'écriture est resté transparent.
