A stencil process for making colored prints or adding color to a printed key illustration.

OBS

Pochoir is the French name for a hand-coloured illustration process used as long ago as the early 15th century. This costly hand work process has for the most part been supplanted by the (screen) stencil process.

Procédé manuel de reproduction d'œuvres graphiques en couleurs au moyen de feuilles de carton ou de métal découpées à la forme d'un dessin : le pochoir; celui-ci est appliqué sur le dessin à colorier, dont le contour est imprimé, et le coloriste enduit de couleur, avec une brosse, la surface délimitée par le découpe.

De nos jours, on utilise surtout la sérigraphie, procédé d'impression dérivé du pochoir.
