Quantity surveyor: Traditionally one who was concerned with the measurement and valuation of construction work, but currently the practice of quantity surveying extends well beyond these basic activities.... Modern quantity surveying is concerned with the financial and economic aspects of construction. Its activities extend from the provision, for the prospective building owner, of reports on feasibility, through early stage estimates and cost-planning of the evolving design, into the preparation of bills of quantities, the obtaining and evaluation of tenders, the negotiation of contractual arrangements and the complete administration of the financial aspects of construction contracts. Within construction firms quantity surveyors provide the commercial counterparts to the above and sometimes undertake project planning and production management. 1, record 1, English, - quantity%20surveying

Économiste de la construction. [...]

[...] Le rôle du «quantity surveyor» [...] déborde très largement celui du géomètre expert essentiellement chargé de dresser des métrés [...] 2, record 1, French, - %C3%A9conomie%20de%20la%20construction

Taking off. Taking off quantities is the first step in working out quantities from a drawing when compiling a bill of quantities. It involves writing down the dimensions of each item systematically on sheets of dimensions paper so that the next operation (squaring up or working up) can be done without misunderstanding by someone else. 2, record 2, English, - quantity%20surveying

2, record 2, French, - %C3%A9tablissement%20de%20l%27avant%2Dm%C3%A9tr%C3%A9
