L'office de la langue française recommande l'utilisation de «quatuor» pour remplacer l'anglicisme «foursome», une recommandation suivie par la presse parlée et écrite mais peu populaire chez les golfeurs. Quant au terme «quadrette», jadis recommandé, il demeure impropre pour le golf puisqu'il désigne plutôt le groupe de quatre joueurs à des jeux de boule comme la pétanque.
