One drum-maker told us of a rattle which he had made in accordance with a person's dream; it had a specific number of rattlers, but he did not know why it had to be done in that manner. Hoof rattles, in particular, are extraordinarily variable with regard to the number of rattlers on them. One artifact which we saw had only one (hence it could not rattle effectively); others had upwards of 150. 1, record 1, English, - rattler

1, record 1, French, - bruiteur
