La raison pour quoi il n'est pas venu : Cette construction, dans laquelle quoi joue le rôle d'un pronom neutre, est archaique. En français moderne pour quoi (en deux mots) ne se trouve plus que dans l'expression pour quoi faire? en interrogation directe. En se soudant, les deux composants pour quoi ont donné l'adverbe pourquoi, qui ne saurait s'employer en dépendance d'un nom. L'expression la raison pour quoi est un anglicisme de maintien, où la construction anglaise (the reason why) aide à la survie de l'expression française parallèle. On emploiera donc "la raison pour laquelle". (Faute) : Il ne m'a pas dit la raison pour quoi il n'est pas venu.
