Abri contre un danger, une menace, une poursuite, que l'on recherche ou que l'on se procure en se rendant ou en se trouvant dans un lieu où l'on espère pouvoir échapper à ce danger, à cette menace ou à cette poursuite. La notion de refuge peut s'appliquer soit à l'abri recherché contre un danger physique : cas du navire qui cherche refuge dans un port contre un péril de mer, de la personne cherchant refuge dans une ambassade ou sur un navire de guerre pour échapper aux violences de la foule, soit à l'abri recherché pour échapper à l'action de l'autorité publique; cas du criminel cherchant refuge en pays étranger. 1, record 4, French, - refuge
