A rotary drum filter consists basically of a revolving cylinder (or drum) partially submerged in a tank (or trough) containing the sludge to be filtered. The drum is formed by the juxtaposition of a number of compartments (or sectors) which are sealed off from each other and covered with a filtering fabric. Each compartment is connected by a pipe to an essential device known as the distributor.
