La coiffe des rotateurs est une nappe tendineuse continue qui vient recouvrir la tête humérale et s'insérer sur le pourtour de sa surface articulaire. Cette nappe tendineuse continue est formée de la réunion des tendons des muscles de la coiffe des rotateurs. Il s'agit de quatre muscles courts qui s'attachent sur l'omoplate. Il y en a un antérieur, le sous scapulaire, un supérieur, le sus épineux et 2 postérieurs, le sous épineux et le petit rond.
