When plotting two trends on a regular amount scale where differences in the trends are to be stressed, use two distinctive patterns of shading to show these differences.

On commencera donc par fixer pour chaque mois les prévisions de production et on représentera la succession par un graphique en dents de scie tracé en pointillé, puis mensuellement, on fera figurer le total de la production correspondante, on obtiendra ainsi un autre diagramme en dents de scie (mais en traits pleins). On déterminera alors des zones d'écarts que l'on hachurera diversement selon que [ces écarts] sont positifs ou négatifs. En raison de son aspect, ce graphique est dénommé en banderole.
