The single seed descent method separates the step toward homozygosity and the selection step. The initial step to enhance progress toward homozygosity by advancing the generations as rapidly as possible and subsequently to select among the randomly derived inbred lines. To maintain manageable levels of segrating populations, one randomly chosen seed is planted from each previous-generation plant. After reaching homozygosity, conventional performance trials are conducted. 4, record 1, English, - single%20seed%20descent%20method
