Several automatic decision-making criteria have been used to determine the beginning, end, and center of the target. Two principal types are the sliding window and the sequential observer. The sliding-window detector ... stores the number of radar returns at target range within each prescribed incremental range-resolution element during the past N azimuthal trials. If the number of returns exceeds a predesignated value ... the target is declared to be detected.

The cockpit clearview windows are plug-type windows that rest against a flange around the perimeter of the sill. Each window can be moved through a crank-and-chain mechanism located on the bulkhead below the windowsill. To open the window, the locking mechanism is first released by the pilot. This preliminary action releases the latches on the aft edge of the window, but does not move the window. The initial turning of the hand crank pulls the aft edge of the window inboard enough to clear the sill, allowing the window to slide aft when the crank is further turned. The window can be unlocked when the aircraft is pressurized, but the outward force on the window is so great that turning the hand crank cannot open the window.

Les fenêtres coulissantes de poste de pilotage sont de type à emboîtement qui reposent contre une bride tout autour du périmètre de l'appui de fenêtre. On peut ouvrir et fermer chaque fenêtre à l'aide d'un mécanisme à chaîne et manivelle situé sur la cloison sous l'appui de la fenêtre. Pour ouvrir la fenêtre, le pilote doit d'abord libérer le mécanisme de verrouillage. Cette mesure préliminaire dégage les verrous du rebord arrière de la fenêtre, mais sans déplacer la fenêtre. Pour ouvrir la fenêtre, il faut tourner la manivelle, ce qui tire le rebord arrière de la fenêtre suffisamment loin vers l'intérieur pour qu'il se dégage de l'appui, et la fenêtre peut ensuite coulisser librement vers l'arrière si l'on continue de tourner la manivelle. On peut déverrouiller la fenêtre même si l'avion est pressurisé, mais la force vers l'extérieur exercée sur la fenêtre est alors si grande qu'il est impossible d'ouvrir la fenêtre en tournant la manivelle.

A technique to determine the century (high-order digits) of a year when represented by two digits.

OBS

The user specifies the number of years (both past and future) within a 100-year window spanning two centuries. For example, assume the window is set at 19 future years (1996-2014) and 80 past years (1915-1994). Dates in the range 00-14 (inclusive) are designated 21st century dates because they fall into the future window. Dates in the range 15-99 (inclusive) fall into the 20th century.
