Since 1980, the Micmacs of Maria (both men and women) have been working in increasing numbers as guides, game wardens and cooks with the Society of the Cascapedia Salmon Fisheries. This Society is a corporate agency managed jointly by the Micmacs of Maria and several municipalities located along the shores of the Cascapedia River.
