Chauffage d'un plasma sans collisions placé dans un champ magnétique de confinement non uniforme. Il est dû à l'action d'un champ électrique, perpendiculaire en chaque point au champ magnétique et qui varie au hasard dans le temps à la manière d'un bruit de fond. Ce type de chauffage apparaît par résonance cyclotron lorsque le champ électrique atteint l'une des fréquences cyclotron des particules ou l'une de ses harmoniques.
