When the SPARK initiative was first developed in late 1980's, it promoted science and technology in BC among a wide variety of economic sectors. Key players from leading BC sectors such as forest products, biotechnology, ocean industries and information technology, came together to focus on the strengths of their sectors and identity opportunities to make them viable and productive growth industries for BC. SPARK served as an effective conduit for industry discussion and networking for more than ten years and may of the valuable partnerships and connections that SPARK fostered have been pursued by industry specific groups and continue to have an impact today.
