Streptococcal toxic shock syndrome has often been described in the setting of surgical wounds, burns, childbirth, diabetics, elderly, neonates, and immunocompromised hosts, where the portal of entry is the skin.

The streptococcal toxic shock syndrome accompanies the flesh-eating disease and has 81% mortality rate.
