SPOR-2 [...] est un satellite héliosynchrone, c'est-à-dire qu'il passe toujours à la même heure solaire locale au-dessus (à la verticale) des points de la Terre de même latitude.

héliosynchrone : Se dit d'un satellite de la Terre qui décrit une orbite à ensoleillement constant (le plan de l'orbite fait un angle constant avec la droite Terre-Soleil).

Un tel satellite possède les propriétés suivantes : 1. Le plan de l'orbite fait un angle sensiblement constant avec la droite Terre-Soleil; 2. Le taux d'ensoleillement est sensiblement constant et est fonction de l'angle choisi; 3. Le passage à une latitude donnée se fait sensiblement à la même heure locale.
