The Swedish Agency for International Technical and Economic Cooperation (BITS) started in the 1980s. BITS was designed to promote economic and social development in developing countries and to strengthen Swedish relations with non-programme countries in particular. it administers amongst others technical cooperation, mixed credits, and international training programmes.
