The introduction of the two-armed or twin-jib ... coal-cutter allowed the operator to cut two grooves simultaneously, one at ground level and the other at an intermediate level in the seam. Le double bras (...) permet deux havées parallèles. Pour le monter, on modifie la tête de la machine de façon à faire sortir l'axe des deux côtés. Le deuxième bras est monté à hauteur variable en employant un arbre plus ou moins long. On surmonte alors la tête de la haveuse d'une tourelle formée d'entretoises circulaires successives, la dernière portant le palier de l'arbre moteur. Une haveuse à deux bras consomme une puissance supérieure d'environ 30 % à celle d'une haveuse à un seul bras, toutes choses égales d'ailleurs.
