Le principe de cette opération est de faire tourner la jambe de 180 degrés autour de son axe longitudinal, d'amener le talon en avant de façon que l'articulation tibio-tarsienne de la jambe courte fonctionne comme un genou mobile dans une prothèse.

Technique hollandaise. On ampute la jambe au-dessus du genou, lequel est remplacé par la cheville en position inversée. Technique développée au cours des années 50.
