Web conferencing software typically allows participants to contribute messages, sort messages by author, date or subject, upload files or engage in real-time chat. Its particular strength is that it uses the Web, which provides a cross-platform, low-cost means of hosting an ongoing discussion, potentially available to readers and contributors anywhere on the Internet or intranet.
