Witness audits are conducted by the SCC [Standards Council of Canada] as a means of verifying that the CAB [Conformity Assessment Body] is implementing certification/registration procedures at the client level and has the competence to conduct certification/registration audits in the requested scope of accreditation ... Witness audit activities are not conducted to evaluate the performance of an individual CAB auditor, but the effectiveness of the system that the CAB auditor is implementing.
