A transnational programme to synthesize the best of research and development into the nature of human learning, and to examine its implications for education, work and the development of communities worldwide. The 21st Century Initiative was sparked ...at the November, 1994 Wingspread Conference, in which participants decided that the goals of Education 2000 could best be met by a transnational organization collecting, synthesizing and disseminating the best research and practice on learning and education from around the world. The Initiative was registered in June, 1996, as a 501 (c)(3) organization in the United States. John Abbott, a driving force behind Education 2000, became the organization's president.
