  • Sociology of the Family
CONT

There are reported Canadian family law cases where the woman has clearly been the aggressor. There is a need to take violence against men by their partners seriously, and to recognize that for some of these men a feeling of humiliation may make disclosure more difficult. However, it is also important to recognize that in general abuse of husbands is a less serious issue than abuse of wives, because of differences in social and economic power as well as strength.

Record 4 2003-04-11

English

Subject field(s)
  • Tort Law (common law)
  • Offences and crimes
DEF

One that commits aggression.

CONT

A victim of a criminal assault might prefer to sue his attacker in tort rather than call the police, because the former course may provide him with some monetary gain while the latter will not. Further, such an aggrieved person may wish to take some action against his aggressor, but he may not want him to end up in jail.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Droit des délits (common law)
  • Infractions et crimes
DEF
