Canada and the EU signed an Agreement on Cooperation in Nuclear Research at the December 1998 Canada-Eu (European Union) Summit. This Agreement provides access for Canadian Researchers engaged in research on peaceful uses of nuclear energy to EU Research projects - potentially including those managed by the European Atomic Energy Community (EURATOM) for decommissioning nuclear reactors in Central and Eastern Europe. European researchers will receive access to Canadian nuclear programs. Le Canada et l'Union européenne ont signé un accord sur la coopération dans le domaine de la recherche nucléaire au Sommet Canada-UE (Union européenne) de 1998.
