AIR ATOMIZING BURNER [3 records]

Record 1 1990-08-29

English

Subject field(s)
  • Burners and Steamfitting
CONT

Air Atomizing Oil Burners. Except for the nozzle, this burner is similar in construction to the pressure atomizing burner. Atomizing air and oil are supplied to individual parts within the nozzle. The nozzle design allows the oil to break up into small droplet form as a result of the shear forces created by the atomizing air. The atomized oil is carried from the nozzle through the outlet orifice by the air flow into the furnace.

CONT

air atomizing burners are designed to use compressed air at either high or low pressure for atomization.

OBS

[The] atomizing oil burner [is] an oil burner which delivers fuel oil to the combustion zone in the form of tiny droplets. It uses some form of nozzle or orifice to spray the oil into the combustion chamber. An atomizing oil burner is classified by the medium used to break up the oil into fine particles.

Domaine(s)
  • Fumisterie et brûleurs
CONT

CONT

The low pressure air atomizing burner uses comparatively large volumes of air at low pressure (5 psi or less). Air from the lower passes through the burner body and is discharged through annular slots between the body and the nozzle tip, where it meets the film of oil at an angle as it issues from the tip. The impact of the air stream upon the oil film produces a fine mist which is projected into the combustion space. These burners may be fired with light or heavy oil. They are most often used to fire industrial heating and processing furnaces....

OBS

These [low-pressure] burners achieve their objective by delivering oil and air to the nozzle at a pressure of from 1 to 15 psi, depending upon the make of the burner. ... with these burners the oil and air come in contact with each other before leaving the burner. The air is used to atomize the oil into fine particles, and it leaves the nozzle opening in the form of a mist.

CONT

Air atomizing burners are designed to use compressed air at either high or low pressure for atomization. The high pressure burner is nearly identical with the steam atomizing burner in design and application. Some burners operate well with either medium.

OBS

With high-pressure gun-type burner oil and air do not make contact until they both have actually left the burner and entered the firebox.

  • Fumisterie et brûleurs
CONT

Brûleurs à pulvérisation directe. (...)
