English

Subject field(s)
  • Cryogenics
  • Oil and Natural Gas Extraction
CONT

Different Types of Air Separation Units (ASU). All Gaseous Product. On site gas generators are by far the most common type of ASU. These plants can produce oxygen only, oxygen and nitrogen or oxygen, nitrogen and argon or just nitrogen. ... These units separate the air in liquid form ... Gas generators typically produce between 10-2000 short tons of combined product.; All Liquid Product. ... All desired product is liquefied for shipment in cryogenic transport trailers or rail cars. Generally, these units make liquid oxygen (LOX), liquid nitrogen (LIN) and liquid argon (LAR), though in some oil/gas production areas there are large liquid nitrogen only ASUs.

CONT

CONT

Preparation of bleach chemicals. All conventional bleaching chemicals can be produced from air, water and brine (NaCl solution) utilizing varying amounts of energy. Since the raw materials are cheap, it follows that manufacturing costs are mainly a function of how much energy is expended. Oxygen. Two systems are utilized for oxygen generation: cryogenic air separation and adsorption-based separation .... Cryogenic plants compress air and remove water, CO2 and other impurities in a pretreatment system. The dry air is then cooled and liquified at cryogenic temperatures using turbo expanders and/or refrigeration systems. Finally, the liquified air is distilled to separate it into oxygen, nitrogen and other coproducts.

Since the raw materials are cheap, it follows that manufacturing costs are mainly a function of how much energy is expended. Oxygen. Two systems are utilized for oxygen generation: cryogenic air separation and absorption-based separation .... The adsorption-based oxygen plant yields a gas product and is suitable only for onsite generation .... adsorption systems separate air at ambient temperatures using molecular sieve adsorbents. The adsorbent picks up nitrogen and other impurities at the system feed pressure, while the product oxygen passes straight through the bed. After the bed is saturated with nitrogen, it is regenerated by lowering the pressure to release the adsorbed components. Adsorption processes are cyclical, and multiple beds are used to maintain continuous oxygen production.
