WHO [World Health Organization] on an Influenza Pandemic. The WHO has defined different alert levels in relationship to an influenza pandemic: phase 0: the inter-pandemic period, when occasional outbreaks raise concern about the possibility of a pandemic. LOLA is a turnkey system consisting of an array of wind sensors, located on the ground, at and around an airport ... The LOLA system is directed by a IBM central control unit with varied communications (VHF/UHF radio or land line) to interrogate the remote sensor sites at least once every 10 seconds. An LLWAS installation can have up to 16 remote measuring sites, where wind direction and strength at low altitude are measured and automatically transmitted to a central control unit in the control tower. There can be up to 12 remote display and alarm units and the information can be passed to pilots in flight.
