English

Subject field(s)
  • Organizations, Administrative Units and Committees
OBS

Some emphasis should be put on the forming of the Algonquin Women's Committee of Lac-Simon in 1984; it is made up of ten women at present. Each Algonquin village has a representative within the Québec Native Women Association, but this was the first committee formed at the local level. The women want to help one another and exchange ideas. They also intend to make women aware of political life so a woman can be elected to the Band Council.
