The aorta is the first and largest artery in the body. It is responsible for transporting nutrient-rich blood to the systemic circulation following ejection from the left ventricle of the heart. The aorta extends from the aortic valve of the left ventricle to the proximal iliac bifurcation at the L4 [fourth lumbar vertebra] vertebral level. The vessel can be divided into various segments depending on course and location. 2, record 1, English, - aorta

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
An aortic dissection is a serious condition in which a tear occurs in the inner layer of the body's main artery (aorta). Blood rushes through the tear, causing the inner and middle layers of the aorta to split (dissect). If the blood goes through the outside aortic wall, aortic dissection is often deadly. 2, record 2, English, - aortic%20dissection

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
