[A plan] developed to ensure the safest and most efficient [means of evacuating] all occupants of a building or structure in case of an emergency.

CONT

Building emergency evacuation plans have been developed for every building which houses ten or more individuals at all campus locations. These plans include evacuation maps which are prominently displayed within each building.

OBS

Not to be confused with the term "building emergency and evacuation plan," which encompasses non-evacuation emergencies as well as emergencies requiring an evacuation.

BEEPs are posted at exits, contain an outline of the building and show the interior shelter-in-place locations and the outside assembly areas. BEEPs also contain instructions for evacuation, shelter in place, fire/explosion, and serious injury.

Not to be confused with the term "building emergency evacuation plan," which encompasses only emergencies that require an evacuation.

Some examples of emergencies that may not require an evacuation are a weather event such as a tornado, a shelter-in-place incident, an injury or medical event, a chemical spill, malfunctioning utilities, etc.
