Authorization to build or modify a structure.

CONT

Permit - Government authorization to perform a building process. There are several types of permits. Be sure that the contractor agrees (in writing within your contract) to buy applicable permits: 1- A building permit allows a contractor to build a new structure or modify an already existing structure.

Autorisation administrative délivrée à l'issue d'une procédure obligatoire destinée à vérifier la conformité d'un projet de bâtiment avec l'ensemble des dispositions législatives ou réglementaires en vigueur : règles d'urbanisme nationales ou locales (PLD [plafond légal de densité], POS [plan d'occupation des sols] local, règles de construction, impact sur les sites), et servitudes de droit public et de droit privé.

Les travaux exécutés sur les constructions existantes sont aussi assujettis au permis de construire lorsqu'ils ont pour effet d'en modifier la destination, l'aspect extérieur, ou le volume. Il en va de même de toute reconstruction, même à l'identique, de bâtiments existants.

La déclaration de travaux exemptés de permis de construire est une formalité qui doit être accomplie avant la réalisation des travaux mentionnés à l'article R.422-2 du Code de l'urbanisme.

À distinguer du document écrit faisant foi de l'autorisation de construire, appelé également «permis de construire».
